Death Angel
Death Angel
Among the youngest bands ever to storm the metal genre, Death Angel has come to be known as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the thriving Bay Area Thrash Metal Scene in the early 1980s, an era when one could catch Cliff Burton (Metallica) at the front of the stage at Ruthie’s Inn banging his head to Death Angel’s inventive style, and speedy, complex arrangements

In 1986, a Death Angel demo produced by Kirk Hammett (Metallica) titled “Kill As One” sparked the interest of Enigma Records. Then, in 1987, Death Angel’s debut, “The Ultra Violence,” was released. Drummer Andy Galeon was just 14 years old at the time. The album was a full-frontal assault on the ears, buzzing with the group’s youthful energy, and “The Ultra Violence” sold 40,000 copies in just four months. Another innovative recording, “Frolic Through the Park,” followed, marking Death Angel’s evolution both lyrically and musically. “Bored,” another track from the band’s second release, highlighted the cutting-edge band’s inventive dynamics, and won a spot on MTV’s “Headbanger’s Ball.”

Geffen Records was impressed enough with Death Angel’s television premier to offer the band a deal, and Death Angel became the first band of their breed to appear on the major label’s roster. At Geffen, the band released what is widely regarded as one of the most original and accomplished thrash metal albums ever recorded, “Act III.” The record pushed the limits of the genre to create something truly unique, a definitive work that is essential to any metal fan’s music collection. Death Angel’s masterful songwriting ability was once again on display nationwide in 1990, as the videos for “Seemingly Endless Time’ and ‘Room With A View’ saw heavy rotation on MTV.
Truceline is a hard charging Los Angeles based metal band formed by Korean guitarist Jae-Yong Ha, formerly of the Korean metal band “Crash”. Jae-Yong, (Jay) came to America to form a new project. The band came together very quickly with the additions of Michael Allred (Vocals), Chuck Jeong (Guitar), Josh Browne (Bass), and Ralph Alexander (Drums). Truceline’s songs come from many influences that can be heard in their very powerful music. With a mix of old school thrash, melodic death/groove metal, hints of down and dirty hard rock riffs, and hard hitting – thought provoking lyrics delivered to you with an “in your face” attitude, Truceline brings a very powerful new twist to the metal scene. All this coupled with incredible musicianship and a high energy live show, Truceline is sure to move you…a must see for any fan of metal.

"Iniquitous..." That best describes the foundation of "13", says singer
songwriter Neal Sowers. "This band is very unique in it's own way. I
wanted it to be as pure & real as it gets in this band. Not packed full of
shit that cannot be duplicated live on stage, honest and to the point", as
he reaches for his slide. “We’re focused on getting real solid rock back
into the scene without all the fluff. The incorporation of the slide with
heavy rock is something you don't hear much of anymore, but I fucking love
it!- It gives the music a sense of a, dark edged southern vibe, meets hot
rods and pin ups. Can't go wrong there!" After the 2008 release of "Virgo
Rising", Neal moved from Arizona to Los Angeles with one goal in After a year of false starts and shake-ups he finally found
a group of like minded guys that were just as enthusiastic to rock, and,
they were willing to back the songs. After teaming up with Bryan Sinklier
(drums), Roy Sherman (rhythm guitar) and AJ Shafi (bass guitar), they were
all ready to get their feet off the ground and play", says Neal. The band
has played a wide array of venues from all over the Sunset Strip in Los
Angeles, to MMA fights getting the crowd pumped for beatdown action.

Neal’s been picked up and endorsed by Line 6 amplification & GHS guitar
strings. The band is known for a killer rock show and sound. Follow them
online at; and stay in the loop. Been told it's, "highly
enjoyable with whiskey", undoubtedly so, but really enjoyed when played
loud. Catch a live show. ---Cheers---
Preachers & Pornstars
Preachers & Pornstars
They’ve been dubbed “The hardest working original band in Ventura County”, but to the uninitiated, a band called Preachers & Pornstars may elicit images of some white trash metal sleazefest — some ungodly mix of Nashville Pussy, White Zombie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, a truckful of moonshine and a garage full of crack. The band’s MySpace profile does little to dispel the image. Under “Description,” they list one fan’s opinion of them: “If by some weird twist of fate Kurt Cobain (before he was killed by Courtney), Rob Zombie, and Ozzy ended up in a huge orgy with a gaggle of white trash debutantes, the stain on the sheets would be them.”
The music and songs pay at least as much heed to ’70s road warriors such as Grand Funk Railroad and Black Sabbath as they do White Zombie. “Shan’s very much the frontman type. He gets up in your face. Out in the parking lot, he’s the nicest, coolest guy, but up onstage, he gets so into the music, something happens.” states drummer Scotty Nolan, “He turns into someone else. It’s like Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde.”
Making a name for yourself through the abundance of emo / screamo bands in Southern California is not an easy chore. “ It’s time for rock to make a huge comeback and I feel that we’re actually helping that happen.” states Parsons. “We’re 5 guys with different musical backgrounds, meeting at a crossroad and using all of our influences to make kick ass music that we would listen to. How can we expect to get other people into what were doing if we’re not enjoying it ourselves?!”
Preachers & Pornstars have had their fair share of opening gigs in their first year of gigging. They’ve opened for Powerman 5000 and played back to back gigs with Prong, The Exies and Drowning Pool at the World Famous Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood. They also landed the opening slot of HELLYEAH's Balls, Volume and Strength Tour, when it made a stop at the Majestic Ventura. When asked about the Preachers & Pornstars experience so far, this is what Parsons had to say - “It’s been an amazing rough ride so far. We’ve made it through a ton of crap in our first year and a half (losing and replacing members, car accidents, broken bones, blood, sweat, tears, uncontrollable rashes, etc.) Life’s full of all kinds of shit like that, but if you want something bad enough you just have to pull yourself up, dust yourself off, learn from the bumps, get back down to business and make shit happen. It’s that simple and I wouldn’t change a thing about any of it
